The first novel in English from..

Central African Republic! My latest translated novel from a little-known African country is out today. It's feisty, fun, and probably like nothing you've ever read. Publishers and writers of this non-mass-market stuff need all the help they can get, so please buy it as a treat for yourself or an amazingly random Christmas present (preferably by ordering it from your local independent book shop, which also needs help - let's defeat corporate blandness one story at a time...).

Bangui, Central African Republic. This is the story of Ndongo Passy and Grekpoubou, the two widows of Lidou. Following their husband’s sudden and unexplained death, they find themselves fighting tooth and nail for all that is important to them. A playful, bittersweet, story full of dry wit and local colour, set against a backdrop of political instability, corruption and the friction between the old and the new.
